About The Book

My Moments with Her is not merely the story of a marriage, it is the quiet confession of a man who spent a lifetime searching for love, understanding, and emotional truth. Written with rare candour and profound emotional depth, this memoir unfolds through the reflections of an eighty-year-old Army Officer looking back upon a relationship that endured the tests of time, silence, longing, sacrifice, betrayal, forgiveness, and companionship.

Set against the backdrop of Army life, social expectations, separations, and emotional distances, the book travels through moments both tender and devastating. It recalls the innocence of youthful attraction, the burden of unspoken expectations, the ache of emotional neglect, and the wounds that words often fail to describe. Yet, beyond the pain, lies a remarkable story of endurance, of a man who continued to love even when love became complicated, uncertain, and deeply painful.

The author writes neither to accuse nor to seek sympathy. Instead, he opens his heart with honesty, allowing readers to witness the fragile truths that often remain hidden within long marriages. The loneliness two people may silently carry, the misunderstandings that grow with time, the pride that prevents confession, and the quiet forgiveness that survives despite emotional scars.

"

It is a book about not only love and loss, but also about endurance, about the fragments of hope, tenderness, and meaning that remain even after life has taken away certainty.

The Anatomy of Silence

August 24, 2026

The memoir opens as an insightful psychological study into how early emotional mismatch, cultural differences, and non-confrontational silence can be mistaken for peace and consent. Over decades, this unspoken dynamic calcified into chronic emotional distance and resentment.

Living in the Unsaid

August 23, 2026

The bok My Moments With Her tell about instead of treating silence as peace or agreement, the memoir explores how unspoken expectations, modesty, and emotional restraint act as slow-growing distance between two partners over a 52-year marriage. A 80-year-old retired Army officer—does not write to assign blame or seek sympathy. He actively inspects his own assumptions, youthful naivety, and failures to ask direct questions during early courtship.Mismatch in upbringing or emotional language isn’t inherently fatal to a relationship, but moving forward requires replacing silence with honest dialogue and quiet forgiveness.

A very honest, quiet book about marriage, silence and reflection

August 14, 2026

thought My Moments With Her would be a love story. It is, but not in the filmy way. It is a very honest reflection by a man looking back at 52 years of marriage and trying to understand his wife’s silence.

The book is not about romance, it is about the psychology of silence in marriage. The author talks about his early courtship days — how he took his wife’s acceptance as consent, how absence of refusal felt like agreement at that age. Now after so many years, he asks himself — was she truly comfortable? Was she just adjusting? Was she silent out of virtue, modesty, or just upbringing?

That question stayed with me. In our generation, restraint was called virtue. A woman’s silence was seen as goodness. No one asked directly about feelings, and no one volunteered clarity. So two people started a life together with assumptions.

What I liked is how honestly he writes. He says he filled the gaps with optimism — her quietness as depth, her restraint as modesty. He admits he never asked directly. That is rare for a man of his generation to accept.

It’s not a book that blames anyone. It says mismatch is not always fatal, sometimes it is transformative. But silence prevents integration. If you don’t talk about feelings in early days, that template continues for decades.

A very calm, reflective read. It made me think about my own marriage and how much we assume without asking.

3 Takeaways:

1. Silence is not consent – Absence of refusal is not agreement. We need to ask directly.

2. Assumptions become patterns – What starts in courtship becomes the template for a lifetime if not addressed.

3. Mismatch can still be transformative – Difference in upbringing is okay, but only if you replace silence with honest dialogue.

This book stays with you because it feels lived, not written. My Moments With Her is a heartfelt reflection on a relationship shaped by affection, confusion, distance, and deep attachment. The writing is sincere and emotional, and the author’s voice carries both pain and tenderness. It is a moving reminder that long relationships are rarely simple, and that silence can sometimes say more than words. A powerful read for anyone who values emotional truth and human complexity.
